Running with Needles & Scissors
I was born in Germany and I spent my childhood there. My family moved to the United States when I was 16. We went from Germany to El Paso, Texas, so it was a dramatic change of environment.
I finished high school, and I was thrilled to head to the east coast and attended Cornell University where I earned a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Administration.
Following graduation, I spent almost a decade working with Arthur Andersen in their consulting area. I got married in 1988, and in 1992 we started having children. I was fortunate to be able to stay home and raise our four children and proceeded to home school them for 10 years.
In college, I picked up a needle for the first time, and I attempted to stitch my very best friend a wedding sampler—it was huge and I never did get it done. However, the love of stitching was born.
In my mid-thirties I was introduced to reproduction samplers, and my passion for them has only grown over the years. Antique samplers are filling my collection now and doing so much faster than I can reproduce them.
We returned to Germany in 2009 and were fortunate to be able to stay for 12 years. We returned to the states in 2021 and settled in Ohio.
In 2023 I left my position with an international ministry to launch my design company Running with Needles & Scissors. My husband and partner in crime, Rob, is an invaluable help and support. This has been quite an adventure.
