Giulia Manfredini
Giulia Manfredini, born and raised in Massa, Tuscany, Italy, a medical doctor with specialties in Nuclear Medicine and Endocrinology, is the Chief of the Endocrine Unit of Massa-Carrara Province, Italy. Giulia began her journey into needle art at a young age with the guidance of her paternal grandmother and her mother, two very talented women who transferred her their love for needle art. In 1998 she started what she calls her “needlework adventure” after being awarded 1st place in a 1997 on-line contest of Caron Collection Threads. In the following years, she published on Sampler and Antique Needlework Quarterly, Just Cross Stitch, The Gift of Stitching, and Piecework.
Her company, called Giulia Punti Antichi (Giulia from her name and Punti Antichi meaning Old Stitches in Italian) started after 1998. In the following years, Giulia was invited to teach to Guilds and to shop-owners by TNNA (The National Needlearts Association) and to Needlework Retailer at the Nashville Show. In 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2018 she has been teaching at the Annie’s Needle Arts Show in Williamsburg. In October 2017, she introduced her Betsy Ross Patriotic Pincushion Doll with Celebrations of Needlework, and in May 2018 she attended Celebrations of Needlework again. Giulia is fond of all needlework techniques and finds extremely rewarding to share her love with fellow stitching fans. She encourages them to create and finish projects utilizing her original techniques and design ideas.
