Let’s talk, Marking Samplers! I have been collecting and drawn too, marking samplers for years. Some I have charted and released and some like this one, has been waiting for the right time. I hope you will enjoy spending 3 hours with me stitching a portion of the original sampler attached to a bread board for displaying on an easel or hanging on your wall. Materials are included for both projects.
This intriguing sampler was stitched by Mary Duncen and completed in 1808 at the age of 12. Clearly a marking sampler with roots. This very colorful sampler was stitched in black, blue, periwinkle, cream and red. Breadboard model I have stitched in two color ways or make it your own. 32 count Weeks Dye Works Cocoa linen is the base for this sampler, and I do hope you will join me.
Kit includes: Bread Board, 32 count Linen for breadboard and sampler, Silk threads, Cotton Floss, needles and finishing supplies, and instructions — all supplies for both sampler projects.
Please bring to class magnification and extra lighting, if needed.
