Penny pockets were used by colonial women to store their coins as they went to market. Today we use them to store our stitching bits and bobs for easy access when we are traveling or simply to keep things we need close at hand. A familiar New England scene of gathering cranberries is featured on the front with personalization and a thoughtful saying on the back. Open up the pocket and there are rings for extra bits of thread and a pocket with a pair of scissors and stitched fob. Also inside the pocket is a tiny needle case with wool pages for storing your needles. Everything you need to stitch! 36-count cream linen is used for the pocket, fob and needlecase. And, of course, silk and overdyed silk is used for all the stitching. Mosaic, Smryna variation, tent and French knots are all used to give texture to the design. Finishing the pocket, needle book and scissors fob will all be covered in class.
Kit includes: 36 Ct cream linen, silks, Calico Cotton lining fabric, Needles, interfacing, wool felt, scisssors, and complete instructions.
Please bring to class extra lighting and magnification if needed.
