“Another alphabet, you won’t understand” is the tongue-in-cheek verse on this small-sized embroidery perhaps only a ‘sampler-maker’ understands. Mounted on a pre-made ‘around-the-neck’ pouch, a simple finishing technique is taught for attaching the sampler to the bag. The bag’s back side has a zippered pocket for storing your favorite needlework tools. A large sampler-style flower is worked on this petite 5-1/2-inch by 6-1/2-inch project. An ornate antique alphabet surrounds the flower design and additional motifs include a scattering of strawberries and a scissor motif. All have been worked with a variety of stitches known to the 17 th century sampler maker and includes: a cross, double cross, back, Colonial Knots, diamond Rhodes, queens, half-queens and Italian hem stitches. Nine DMC threads in rich hues of blues and reds with a smattering of greens and gray (scissor motif) are used. Sampler Size: 5.5-inches wide by 6.5-inches high. Fabric will be cut: 12-inches wide by 13-inches high. A small fun-to-work project provides a useful ‘take-to-class’ work bag holding your favorite needlework tools.
Kit includes: 36-count cream-colored linen, DMC threads, #24 and a #26 tapestry needle, charting, instruction sheets, colored photo and the pre-made bag.
Please bring extra lighting and magnification if needed, and normal stitching supplies.
