Mary More had a truly short and tragic life. She was dumped onto the Mayflower by a father who didn’t want his children anymore. For a four-year-old that had to be scary. She made it across the ocean, only to die during the first winter. To commemorate this little Pilgrim, come join me in creating a miniature sampler stitched in softly shaded silks that include motifs typical of the 17th century. This sampler is so petite and measures only 3.5” x 3.5”. Worked on 40ct cream linen using a variety of stitches, that includes double running, Smyrna variation, queen, petit point, four-sided stitch, and eyelets. This tiny sampler fits perfectly on a specially made hornbook designed to hold your threads. I have added a small mayflower motif which adorns the handle to gently remind us of the tenuous beginnings of this country.
Kit includes: Linen, silk threads, mounting board and padding, the hornbook, and complete instructions.
Please bring extra lighting and magnification if needed.
