Description: Exclusive Teaching Piece
Price: $115.00
Scheduled: Thursday 2:00pm - 4:45pm
Julie's grand daughter calls needles "neenos" and scissors "snips" so she might have called this class "Neenos and Snips" but you wouldn't have had a clue as to what she meant. Stitched on 32ct linen/silk sandstone colored fabric the warm tones of burgundy, purple, gold and greens give an intriguing feel to this tri-fold needle/scissor case. The wrap-around design includes specialty stitches that Julie has created from a vintage stitch book. The chain stitch, rosette chain stitch, knotted buttonhole, and buttonhole eyelet are a few of the stitches used to enhance this cross stitched design. Over one will be used for a more detailed look and personalized initials will make it uniquely yours. The small gold scissors have a self corded tassel that drapes over a vintage button and they nestle in a small pocket. You will use a sample cloth to learn the specialty stitches during class and you will begin to layout your design on the 32 ct linen. The extremely detailed chart along with stitch techniques and finishing instructions take you through each and every step. And, you will tassel your scissors in class. Julie plans to save this design and present it to Miss Bella and to tell her how she used to help Grandma with her "neenos and snips." Bring SHARP embroidery scissors.
Kit includes: Linen, felt lining, scissors, cording, Gentle Art Sampler Threads, floss, needles, basting thread, instructional text, photo, detailed finishing instructions and needles.

Julie was inspired by a gift from a friend that was made of toile fabric and the clever idea resulted in this class. Julie wanted to create a stitched "make do" using some vintage specialty stitches from her favorite stitch reference book. This creation is whimsical in color selection and design and a few of the many stitches you will use are chain stitch, satin stitch and over one. She will tell you all about the history of the "Make-Do" and you will learn the edging stitch use to secure and adorn the edge of the heart-shaped design. Explicit finishing instructions are included and you will have enough supplies to complete two (one for you and one for a friend). Bring Sharp embroidery scissors.
Kit includes: 25ct white Jobelan, DMC floss, perle cotton, fiber fill, silk ribbon, two glass bases, needles, pins, detailed chart design, stitch techniques, photo and sampler cloth.

Class #402
Intermediate Technique Class
Teacher: Julie Norton
Level: Intermediate / Advanced
Description: Exclusive Teaching Piece
Price: $115.00
Scheduled: Sunday 9:00am - 12:45pm
By popular request Julie is offering a "technique" class with no specific pattern or design but a chance to share her "tricks of the trade." Those of you who have stitched for years can look forward to finding a few new techniques. Each student will complete a small sampler cloth as you are introduced to basting on 28ct linen. You will discover the benefit of basting and learn Julie's technique for flawless anchoring and binding. And, you will get a pre-stitched sampler cloth with various shapes and formations so you get to do the "fun" stuff. Be prepared to make the perfect picot, basic dove's eye, dove's eye variation, adjoining wrap (Greek cross), divided wrapped bars with dove's eye, "spider in her lace web," and the Edelweiss stitch. Then you will study the difference between the standard kloster block and its variations as well as all buttonhole options. The pattern for the dolly is included for you to use all you have learned to create a sampler stitch keepsake. A prerequisite is a complete knowledge of BASIC hardanger techniques. This is not a "how to learn hardanger" class. Please bring SHARP embroidery scissors.
Kit includes: 28ct Wichelt linen, #8 and #12 perle cotton, basting thread, needles, instructional text, pattern, photo, sampler cloth, pre-finished/stitched sample cloth for practice and a hoop.
