Still Stitching with Susan, LLC

Susan is known as a needle artist/technician. She has had the pleasure of designing and teaching for shops, guilds and events for the past 30 plus years. Susan has studied her trade in Denmark, England and Italy, as well as with the Danish masters who have visited the US. She was Education Chairperson for the International Needlearts Retail Guild for four years and has chaired many panels, lectures, and charitable events to promote the education of the needlearts. Known as the original "Gadget Gal" in the industry, this has allowed her to teach how many of the "toys" can improve stitching. She is a hands-on teachers comfortable instructing both left and right handed stitchers. Susan was presented with the DMC International Teacher of the Year award. She was also selected to appear on HGTV to represent the counted thread industry. Susan is fun and entertaining and has long list of publications where her work and story has appeared. She has even been a "featured authority" in the Monica Ferris mystery, A Naked Thread Tale, which was dedicated to her by the author.

Between Italy and Germany you will learn this elegant hem work...worked on the back of your hand woven, German, linen that Susan has brought back from Germany. This white on white work is on 28 thread banding and finishes into a stunning 14" by 8½" piece. You may use it as a table setting or attach it to the, already made, black Vera Bradley Bag! This class is limited in size and an experience you will not want to miss.

Kit includes: Vera Bradley Black Computer Bag, German Banding, Perle Coton, Hoop, Pattern and Needles.

Please bring to class: Sharp fine bladed scissors, Black lap cloth is helpful and extra lighting and magnification if needed.

We will meet for a brief get together with Susan Greening Davis, our emcee for the evening. She will introduce our vendors and tell you what special items they will be featuring. While she is giving you an overview of the show, take notes in your free show booklet; therefore when the shopping begins you will have your list of specials. You will then be invited to "shop" the show floor where the vendors will greet you and help you with your shopping needs. This is another great reason to become a member of Celebration of Needlework!

This evening event adds a great deal of excitement to an already fun-filled week and you must preregister for this event on your registration form. Free to all members!

Join Susan for this marvelous class to make A Mermaid Drum Pin Cushion, with a hand wooden turned tray to display it in. This is a pin cushion to finish! Making a drum is fun and the stitching on this project is calming. Assembly will be covered very well. Beautiful threads: peach, blue, green, over-dyed silk and floss, plus a yummy perle coton and some glittery beads. This will set your mermaid off on any window pane. This piece is stitched on 28 count linen with over-dyed silks and cotton floss. The drum measures 5" high and 3" in diameter. Demonstrated stitches include Beading, Colonial knots, Satin, Cross and Bullions. The hand turned wooden tray is a special edition as it is made by one of Susan's good friends, who is legally blind.

Kit includes: Handmade wooden tray, Linen, Threads, Beads, Stabilizer, Felt, Mini Pompoms and Sand Weight.

A few stitches that this sweet piece has will be demonstrated in class, Reverse Scotch, Tacking, and Vintage Hem. This surely is a project you will finish.
