Still Stitching with Susan, LLC

Susan is known as a needle artist/technician. She has had the pleasure of designing and teaching for shops, guilds and events for the past 30 plus years. Susan has studied her trade in Denmark, England and Italy, as well as with the Danish masters who have visited the US. She was Education Chairperson for the International Needlearts Retail Guild for four years and has chaired many panels, lectures, and charitable events to promote the education of the needlearts. Known as the original "Gadget Gal" in the industry, this has allowed her to teach how many of the "toys" can improve stitching. She is a hands-on teachers comfortable instructing both left and right handed stitchers. Susan was presented with the DMC International Teacher of the Year award. She was also selected to appear on HGTV to represent the counted thread industry. Susan is fun and entertaining and has long list of publications where her work and story has appeared. She has even been a "featured authority" in the Monica Ferris mystery, A Naked Thread Tale, which was dedicated to her by the author.

Your OWN Trolly Dolley with "my sampler"!

This is one of those classes that you will love! You will be working a sampler on 35 Count Belgium Linen that goes onto a Trolly Dolley! The Trolley is included in the class, along with front cover and a cover for the flap on top. All stitching is done with the color of over-dyed floss YOU BRING TO CLASS. One color, 25 yards. That way it is your flavor and no two alike. The stitches used in this project will consist of Cross Stitch over one and two, Diamond Rhodes, Backstitch over one and two, Herringbone, Montenegrin, and Smyrna. Finished design size is 4½" X 12" and includes many of Susan's sayings; including a part of a historical sampler her group helped purchase in Williamsburg. This will be the beginning of an adventure to create your own Trolly cover. They have become the "hit" of all needleworkers who have studied this project. Each one speaks your flavor of needlework! (Inspired by, Susan's trip to Paris!)

Kit includes: Linen, Trolly with front cover and top flap cover already made, extensive booklet with patterns and picture.

Bring to Class: 25 yards of over-dyed floss color of your choice. Sharp Scissors and normal Stitching supplies with magnification and extra lighting if needed.

And then, you will be invited to "shop" the show floor where the vendors will greet you and help you with your shopping needs. This is another great reason to become a member of Celebration of Needlework!

Petite Pretty Pouch

It is another "international study" with Susan. Learn the way the masters do hem work in Italy. You will remove threads and secure them to a 26 count banding from Germany. Then you will stitch with white linen thread and a #12 over dyed perle coton straight from South Africa. Satin work, weaves and the drawing of this hem design are the 3 stitches in this class. The band measures 3" high x 6½" wide when completed and attaches to hand-made black pouch from France, Experience the products, not available in the US and study with Susan!

Kit includes: Chart, Needle, Linen Banding, Over Dyed Floss, Felt and finishing.

Bring to class: normal needlework supplies, including light and or magnification if needed.

Sibbel's Work Tray

Sibbel has come to Nashua. The 1735 sampler was created from the journey of an orphan in the early 1700's and published by the Kansas City Star. Susan has created a 3 x 12 x 9" working tray, you will assemble in class. Sibbel would have taken this when she left the charity house for employment. The book is included, as well as Susan's self-published booklet with all of the items that set in the tray including a needlebook, pin keep, scissor pocket and pocket for a special treasure which are all stitched on 28 count tan linen. The inside pieces are all attached to a piece of blue banding from Germany. The outside of the tray has 2 stitched lengths on blue 28 count linen (2 pieces). You will learn all finishing tips and specialty stitches. Become part of the Sibbel Sisterhood and study with Susan.

Kit includes: 28 count Linens (2 colors 6 pieces) German Banding, Tray, Perle Coton, Linen Thread, Flosses, Wool and Felt, Calico, Discs for Pin Keep, Susan's self-published book from Kansas City star with patterns and pictures.

The Saturday Night Event is a spectacular sold out evening of fun, food, and frolicking. It begins with a tasty dinner buffet to relax you and fuel you for a fast paced schedule of entertainment. Susan Greening Davis, our emcee, has fashioned a unique kit just for this event that you will definitely want to finish and use. She will share her travel tales of an adventure to Germany with a group of stitchers. The Silent Auction to benefit breast cancer research will present designs, products, accessories and more all donated by our generous vendors, manufacturers, designers, teachers, and exhibitors. This display of enticing items brings out the friendly rivalry that our guests enjoy as they compete to donate to a most worthy charity. Later there will be time for a round of games when your table of friends competes to win more prizes. Help us to celebrate as Celebration of Needlework closes its' 19th season in beautiful New Hampshire.
