Jeannette Douglas Designs

Jeannette Douglas lives in Calgary, Canada with her husband and two daughters. Jeannette works part time pulling casual shifts at a Psychiatric unit where she worked for many years. She is a singer and has sung with the Calgary Philharmonic Choir which she gave up four years ago. Her stitching has always been a part of her life, as she started as a teenager enjoying many different types of needlework. She has a background in floral design and folk art painting giving her knowledge of color and design. She puts a great deal of research in her designing efforts. Teaching has been a big part of her business for the past three years as her business continues to grow.

This unique trifold needlebook on pearled barley Belfast linen designed by Jeannette focuses on three kinds of stitches. There are other stitches as well but the focal point on the front is pulled work using a variety of threads to create a different look. The back is a four way bargello that looks stunning and when you open the case there are bands of running back stitches. This project will hold a tiny pair of scissors, needles, threads and a ruler simply contrived with buttonhole stitches on Weeks Dye Works wool.
