Girls can do anything, too!! Many a girl went to sea pretending to be a man and she had to do the difficult tasks of onboard life so as not to be discovered. Our sailor girl, however, couldn’t leave her femininity ashore and she dons a few lacy embellishments to her middy apparel. She is stitched on Zweigart 32 Count linen in Antique White using wonderful overdyed fibers from The Gentle Art and Weeks Dye Works overdyed silks in shades of Denim, cream and red. An assortment of specialty stitches creates the textured design with detached buttonhole lace embellishment. Stitches include Alternating Cashmere, Half Cross, Milanese, Plaited Gobelin, Cashmere Checker, Alternating Roumanian, Cross over One and Long and Short. She is the perfect partner to Sailor Boy Whirligig. Each of these projects have articulated turned wood arms and oar paddles. The interior mechanics of the project are pre-cut and easy to install. All finishing and stitching instructions will be covered in class. Marcia is very excited to bring these two new projects to you in this half-day class. This very unique Sailor Girl measures 7” x 2” x 3”.
Kit includes: 32 count linen, over dyed silks from Weeks Dye Works and Gentle Art, mounting boards, pre-cut tubing and wire. The graphics, color photo copies, custom made turned wooden arms, base, stand, oars, tape and ribbons.
