This antique sampler dated 1817 is a lovely small 7” x 5” sampler. We have taken some of the motifs from this sampler and decorated a folding book which has five compartments in it. It is a similar design to that used by the Chinese Dong tribe whose women used such books for mementoes etc. The center vase is stitched in blues and pinks, filled with oranges that are supported below by two small birds. The two birds above and on either side have two flower trees in green, pink and blue. All of the silks are by Pearsall’s, your last chance to use their wonderful silks as they are now no longer making them. A simple Bible verse gives this charming sampler center of attention. The photograph shows the book open with the sampler, the outside of the book has two extracts from the sampler, the tree and a place for your name with the date. You won’t want to miss this one. Two for the price of one, this is a bargain in anyone’s language.
Kit includes: “Sampler Kit” Pearsall’s Silks in Blues & Pinks, 40 Count Cream Linen, Chart instructions and Color Key. “Dong Book Kit” includes: Paper shapes for book, Fabric weave cover, material for design on cover and instructions.
Please bring to class paper scissors and Pritt glue stick.
Bring extra lighting and magnification if needed.
