This charming set of floral smalls is inspired by a sampler fragment from 1787 in the designer’s personal collection. The pin-keep, needle book and pocket are stitched on 35/36 count linen; the scissor tag, a small pin cushion, and a little measuring tool are worked on 40 count silk gauze. All are stitched in the pretty color palette from the original using Weeks Dye Works cotton floss, including the bands of eyelet stitches. Class time will focus on the silk gauze stitching, with a practice piece and review of continental and basket weave stitches. Finishing materials and instruction for all of the smalls in the set will also be covered. Your kit includes a full fat quarter of the linen, four cuts of silk gauze – mounted and ready for stitching, full skeins of cotton floss and additional materials for finishing the smalls.
Kit includes: Chart pack, linen, silk gauze, cotton floss, and needles. Finishing materials: fusible interfacing, lining, and ribbons.
Please bring to class: Hoop or Q-Snap (6-7”) and scissors.
Please bring extra lighting and magnification if needed and normal stitching supplies.
